REQUIREMENTS

WHAT TO BUILD & SUBMIT TO CANVA

New Projects: Build an all-new app or integration and submit it via the Canva Developers Portal using one of the featured developer tools:

Apps SDK
Connect API

OR New & Existing Projects:

Projects that existed prior to the hackathon but that had not been submitted for review via Canva’s developer portal are allowed and considered new for the purposes of this hackathon, however they must still meet all other requirements.
If the app or integration was previously submitted for review or is already live in the Canva Apps Marketplace, the app or integration must have been significantly updated to utilize either the Selection API or the Overlay API, and submitted for review after the start of the Hackathon Submission Period. Entrants should explain how their Project was significantly updated during the Submission Period.

JUDGING CRITERIA

Technological Implementation Does the project demonstrate quality software development? Does the project thoroughly leverage Canva’s Apps SDK or Connect APIs? How is the quality of the app or integration submission?
Design Is the UX and design of the project well thought out? Is there an effective use of frontend and backend in the software? Does it incorporate Canva’s Developers Design Guidelines?
Potential Impact How big of an impact could the project have on Canva’s users or a third party product’s users? Does it fill a major gap in the product? Is this something users have been asking for?
Quality of the Idea How creative and unique is the project? Does the concept exist already? If so, how much does the project improve on it?
