Theta Network 2024 Hackathon

Theta is the leading blockchain + decentralized cloud for AI, video, and media. Join us in building products, integrations and tools for the Theta ecosystem!

Welcome to the Theta Network 2024 Hackathon! Sponsored by Samsung Next, an early investor in Theta Labs and long-time supporter of the Theta Ecosystem, the hackathon will highlight projects that expand the use cases, functionality, and usability of the Theta protocol. Example projects to include:

  • Video platform integrations with the Theta blockchain
  • Generative AI models using Theta EdgeCloud for training and content generation
  • Smart contract-based Dapps and new tokens built using the TNT-20 token standard
  • Subchains built under the Theta Metachain architecture
  • Gaming applications that incorporate Theta EdgeCloud and other Theta dapps

This list is not meant to be all-inclusive - we encourage projects outside of the example provided as long as they add to the Theta ecosystem! To learn more about what can potentially be built on Theta, please visit the Theta Documentation Site, and click here for more Hackathon resources. The hackathon has a total prize pool of more than $250,000 and will feature four different development tracks:

  1. Video / Rendering
  2. Theta EdgeCloud
  3. Generative AI
  4. Gaming

Submissions will be judged by executives from Theta Labs, as well as representatives from Theta partners Samsung Next and Google Cloud.  Teams are also encouraged to join the Google Cloud Web3 Startup program for cloud services support: "We're excited to support the Theta Hackathon by inviting participating teams to join Google Cloud's Web3 startup program." said Richard Widmann, Head of Strategy, Web3 at Google Cloud. "Projects building in the Theta ecosystem can apply for Google Cloud credits and development support from our product and engineering teams, giving them a leg up in building the next generation of dapps to take advantage of Theta EdgeCloud." Theta Hackathon is part of several development community-focused initiatives designed to expand the Theta Ecosystem, along with community-organized Theta Development Academy (TDA) and ThetaCon conference. TDA and ThetaCon are generously lending their support to Theta Hackathon in the form of prizes and development advice. Theta Hackathon is a competition that challenges participants to build innovative solutions using Theta Network technologies. The goal of the hackathon is to foster innovation and collaboration in the blockchain and video streaming industries by encouraging developers, entrepreneurs, and blockchain enthusiasts to create new and exciting applications. The hackathon provides a platform for participants to showcase their skills, connect with other like-minded individuals, and compete for prizes. The event also provides an opportunity for Theta Labs and Theta community to identify talented developers and entrepreneurs who are contributing to the Theta Network ecosystem. Theta Development Academy is an upcoming educational program that will provide training and support to developers interested in building decentralized applications (dApps) on the Theta Network blockchain. The program will offer a comprehensive curriculum that covers topics such as blockchain fundamentals, smart contract development, Theta Network protocols, and video streaming technologies. Participants will also have access to a community of experts and mentors who can offer guidance and support throughout the development process. ThetaCon, a conference independently organized by the Theta community, has held hugely successful ThetaCon events in Ft. Lauderdale, FL in 2022 and Austin, TX in 2023, attended by many of the leading projects and developers in Theta community. The next ThetaCon will be held in Las Vegas at the Resorts World hotel in December 2024. ThetaCon has added to the Hackathon prize pool by offering each of the Grand Prize winner, Runner Up, and Track Winners the prize of 2 tickets to ThetaCon 2024 in Las Vegas, NV.
